A MOMENT TO PONDER -
# This weekend, On The Media (heard on NPR radio) is presenting a segment about Al Manar, the Hezbollah TV Station. I have often wondered whether Al Manar has been violating the same kind of International Laws as the Rwandan Radio Stations were convicted of violating.
# It is ironic that the topic of such a media organization would be discussed this weekend, because today is Holocaust Memorial Day, which marks the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. There will be many ceremonies to commemorate this event.
# And lastly, The UK Daily Mail informs us that the Afghan official who ordered the destruction of two massive 1,500-year-old Buddha statues during the Taliban reign, has been shot dead. The destruction of those Buddha statues was a stunning act of hatefulness toward Civilization on this planet. I believe this one act woke a lot of people up to the kind of plans Al Qaeda has for the rest of the world.
