THE MUMMY
IN THE SUITCASE -

*The mystery of the mummified baby in the suitcase is in the carefully gloved hands of scientific sleuths called forensic anthropologists.*

Where it should be!

Tim O'Meilia writes the best
local article so far on this case
for The Palm Beach Post.

I wasn't going to blog this case again, except maybe for its final official resolution, but this is a very professional journalistic piece. And it cautions not to make snap value judgements about the situation.

Here's the little story I've constructed so far to explain the situation for this case in my imagination:

The mother was an undocumented Latin American who was afraid to seek medical help during pregnancy and birth because of her status. The baby was probably stillborn. She worked in some form of domestic service for this family or for one of their friends or neighbors. She may have been a maid or a home health care aide. Perhaps, her employers were complete strangers to the elderly couple, but she somehow happened to have access to the storage space with their possessions. The sad fate of this child constituted an enduring sorrow for his mother who left religious articles with him in his little
makeshift coffin.

We may never get a
satisfactory story for this case...

so make up your own!
