Threats from extremists over a controversial cartoon have been received by an Urdu newspaper called Aaj Kal which have provoked widespread protest and condemnation among Pakistanis:
"The cartoon published in Aajkal showed the leader of the partisans, Umme Hassaan, in a burka teaching her burka-clad students the radical political philosophy of the group."
Meanwhile, trouble with militant insurgents has moved on to Hangu District where they just blew up the Fort there after looting its arms and ammunition.

SoFlo: NEWSPAPER VOX POP -
Edward Schumacher-Matos, the Miami Herald Ombudsman, published some reader responses yesterday about what kind of content they want.
Something valuable to keep in mind: for many years the American Newspaper Industry scapegoated TV News for their problems. But today they have TV News "partners." In other words, they finally accepted that TV is here to stay and they learned to live with it. We are now seeing them do the same thing all over again with the Internet.
Are American newspapers going to die? No, I don't think so. They are currently undergoing some transformative change in order to adapt to contemporary conditions.
I anticipate that one likely outcome for many will be publishing on paper two or three times around the weekend and then updating the rest of the week on the Internet.
In some areas of the U.S. there are very strict recycling protocols. Recycling paper is mandatory, and failure to comply can result in stiff fines and/or other penalties.
