LOOKING DEEPER: Jeff Sharlet writes an interesting essay on the notorious "Iraqi on a Leash" photo. That's not the specific Newton photo which was brought to my mind-- I thought of the photo which shows a seated female model leering at a passing male. Nevertheless, the general point of it still holds. Another minor distinction-- I do not believe that England is the author of this subversive image.
