*Iraq's much anticipated national conference, seen as a first experiment in post-Saddam Hussein democracy, is to go ahead Sunday...

"There was concern during the past few days that the conference would be delayed, but it will start tomorrow at 11:00 am (0700 GMT)," chief organizer Fuad Maasum told reporters Saturday...

He said the fact that 1,300 delegates representing political parties, religious groups and other organisations were due to attend was proof that most Iraqis were eager for the conference.*
