WEEKEND VIDEOS -
It's a tense weekend leading up to the Iraqi Elections.
Found via Live From Dallas and hunted down to get the proper links, I found two web videos by Salam Pax. In a way, they're perfect for this weekend.
As you may remember, Salam was working with BBC Newsnight, which is where they are located. Because I'm surfing on a half-speed slow connection lately, I don't regularly check Newsnight anymore, although I still have it bookmarked. Each of these two web videos runs about 10 minutes long, so get comfortable.
# SALAM EXPLAINS IT ALL:
The Iraqi Elections and thensome,
complete with Fun Facts and Car Bombs.

# SALAM GOES SOUTH:
in which he travels to Amara and shows you the cultural diversity there, including what's left of a Christian Church and an old synagogue. As far as I could make out on my lousy connection: there is no diversity there; it's on its way back to the Stone Age. God created a thousand flowers and the Iraqis have destroyed them. Look upon these ruins and weep. This is a Desecration. Yeah, it's peaceful there; it's the peace of the dead.

+ If it weren't for Salam's usual antics, it would be depressing. But try not to think about that. It's gotta get better, right?!
