I'm not a political junkie,
but I found this bit interesting:

Yawir also revealed that he had initially hoped to have a joint slate with Iyad Allawi, since the politicians on both lists are dedicated to 'civil' (i.e. non-theocratic) governance. He said he did not like the word 'secular' ('almani) to describe their stance, but preferred 'civil' (madani). He said he believed that religion is too sublime and pure to be mixed into the nitty-gritty of day to day politics...*
