Three mice infected with the bacteria responsible for Bubonic Plague have disappeared from a New Jersey laboratory about two weeks ago, and authorities have launched a search for them.

Where else but in New Jersey?! Home of the Tuberculosis Disposable Tissues Tax and the still mysterious Anthrax Letters.

"This is astonishing," said Richard Ebright, a professor of chemistry at Rutgers University who led an unsuccessful effort to kill a laboratory at Cook College in New Brunswick where anthrax was to be studied, because he feared safety problems. "We're greatly expanding access to biowarfare agents without ensuring that those resources are secure."

*The investigation by the FBI so far had found no evidence of terrorism or even a crime at the lab, Special Agent Steve Siegel, of the FBI's Newark office, said. Lie-detector tests were given to several lab employees.*
