Nicholas Kralev has a thoughtful article about Karen Hughes' recent trip to the Middle East. Ah, no ranting!

There appears to be some confusion there about "public diplomacy." Some of the folks there seem to think it is synonymous with "public relations." Not so.

Public diplomacy means communication with the public in contrast to communication between governments.

It is a valuable mission and one which folks there should take advantage of-- unless they fear that their State Security Police will go after them if they try to do so.
