SoFlo Update -

Local talk around town is that the Miami Herald newspaper may be up for sale. If it goes down the tubes, this would not be cause to celebrate. South Florida is one of a dwindling number of areas in the U.S. which still has two mainstream daily newspapers. When there's only one, the public does not benefit.

On a more personal level, the landlord of our efficiency complex has tried to use Hurricane Wilma as an excuse to evict all of us, but the tenants have self-organized and contacted a lawyer who put a stop to his plans. The situation is betwixt and between right now. Meanwhile, we have been experiencing mysterious mishaps cutting off our phones, TV, and garbage collection. He was planning to cut off our water and electricity, but the lawyer quashed that for now.

Will get back here when I can,
although conditions may remain
unsettled for a while longer.
