DON'T FLY THE BLONDE -

Police officers will be on guard at the So Fly for Spring Break hip-hop concert at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale Saturday night. A newspaper advertisement informs residents there that police protection resources will be diverted to the concert instead of being allocated to the general community.

A controversy has erupted over the ad with allegations that it is racist.

I caught just a glimpse of the ad on my mini B+W TV. I suppose a semiotics expert could dissect it. I didn't care for the use of the word "protection." Even if it isn't construed as racist, it does seem divisive.
