The Gatekeepers! --

Howard Kurtz reports today (with attributions) that there's a new syndication service which is going to distribute blog commentary material to mainstream publications.

But there's one little catch:
"approval."

If I were looking for
readers to "approve" of
me, I wouldn't be blogging!

On the other hand,
I like what the Washington
Post is already doing:

If you comment on a story there, they sometimes put up a link to your blog entry. Readers can get diverse perspectives on the story. And you may get some new readers. This arrangement seems like a Win/Win situation for everyone involved.

The proposed service
sounds rather cynical.
