*It is significant that the street fighting in Adhamiya has been portrayed, by the Iraqi media and Sunni leaders, as neighbourhood self-defence rather than an insurgent attack on security forces. It could strengthen the insurgents' claim to be fighting for the Sunni population as a whole.*

Steve Negus at the UK Financial Times attempts to analyze the street-fighting episode which just occurred. Most reporters were barred from the scene. I think his attempt to understand what just happened "outloud" may just add to the obscuring fog. I am very unhappy with the fuzzy-thinking rhetoric which, thus far, has largely spewed Absolute Categories such as "The Sunnis" with impunity either out of laziness or lack of focused attention on the part of press organizations.
