Elizabeth Safia Al Kasaby of Tampa, Florida, who claims she lost eight relatives in the 9/11 attacks, converted to the Moslem religion in 2005. She is reported to be a former Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Air
National Guard.
Kasaby, who is from a mixed religious background complains that when she was destitute in 1997 she approached a Tampa synagogue for help but was rejected by them. She then found the Moslem religion during a vacation she took in Morocco.
Kasaby, 43, has three daughters. Sylvia, her eldest, who is a Baptist has become estranged from her. But her two younger daughters, 18 year-old Ada and 10 year-old Natalia, who live at home with her, do not object to their mother's conversion. The article does not mention any current or former spouse; nor does it explain her link to Pakistan.
Tampa, Florida, is the homebase of CentCom which directs U.S. military activities in Iraq and Afghanistan.
