The U.S. Media question of the day: Katie Couric's debut as CBS TV evening news presenter. Thumbs-up or thumbs-down?
Couric certainly isn't the first or the one-and-only. Zainab Badawi has been presenting the evening news on BBC World TV for some time. The two women have very different styles of delivery.
I've never been a fan of Couric, but I did watch the beginning of the program last night. It didn't hold my attention through to the end. I find Badawi more watchable.
For all the time he was ABC Evening News Anchor, I never watched Peter Jennings. And in all likelihood, I won't watch Couric either.

And here's Tom Shales take [Reg Req'd]: *she debuted as the first woman to be solo anchor of a major network newscast.*
Oh? What does that make
Zainab Badawi-- chopped liver???
