IRAQ:
THE PICTURE CHANGES -

Last night on the dinnertime Evening News, PM al-Maliki was cited as saying that: *his government was determined to crack down on private militias blamed for the country's spiraling sectarian violence, warning he would "strike hard" against any group that challenges state authority.*

It seemed like just so much
yada-yada-yada;
and not very convincing.

So, I was delighted to see this morning, while scanning the headlines, that a raid had been conducted to take out a Death Squad leader in Sadr City.

I would like to know more about that, but I am very irritated with Sameer N. Yacoub of AP for mixing other issues into this story. Yacoub seems to have been the lead reporter on it, with much less original reportage from AFP or even Reuters.

But by the time I went to delve into the details, this operation was buried in the usual MSM Doom Machinery.

Despite that, I hope it makes an improvement to the Quality of Life experience for people living in Baghdad.
