WEEKEND MEDIA CLIPS -

# NPR's On the Media this weekend included a segment called "Les Misunderstood" on the new France 24 whose website I dropped into previously on a Buzzmachine link. I decided to give it a "honeymoon" and refrain from criticism for a while. The last segment down the page about spying was entertaining.

# Saturday Night Live was mostly ho-hum, but one brief piece was very funny: a satiric movie trailer, supposedly for Mel Gibson's new film. I laughed out loud. TMZ says: Hilarious! And you can watch it there.

# Martin Stabe has disclosed that the British Press Gazette did not die; it was only resting.

# The NYReview of Books

# The big question facing major newspapers is how can they compete with the free content now on the internet. But that's only half the story. The BBC's David Reid doesn't mention the proliferation of junk sections in a kind of stealth cooperative advertising. I don't think one should have to spend an entire day or even an entire afternoon just to read the day's newspaper.
