Glenda Jackson, Labour MP, was appalled at the mobile phone footage. The genocide conviction must have slipped her mind. Well, what's a little genocide here and there-- easy enough to overlook when you're busy.

*The official government video of the execution released in Baghdad on Saturday had no sound and suggested the former tyrant was dispatched in a calm manner, going meekly to his death.

But the full truth of what happened in the execution chamber before dawn on Saturday emerged with the secretly-captured footage, which showed Saddam trading insults with officials right up to the moment the trap door of the gallows was released.*
