SoFlo: FCC HEARD AN EARFUL -
No doubt we'll be hearing a lot more about this meeting held Monday evening, but what follows is from a preliminary report by Richard Mullins at the Tampa Tribune which is owned by Media General:
*About 300 people attended the hearing at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the fourth of six the FCC plans to hold across the country... Many people said media outlets already are too consolidated among a few companies.*
"We have to be very concerned about increasing consolidation to where we have too few voices in a market while also taking into context adjustments in technology... do we want to make sure Internet sites are not just mining the same sources that are used by the existing content providers and media companies."
--FCC Chairman Kevin J. Martin
spoke backstage during a break.
+ Well, if he was referring to Fair Use, there already are established rules for it. And I try to follow them.
