DNC Coverage and Tribune Redesign . . .

Too many reporters covering too little DNC news?

The redesign of the Tribune mothership in Chicago and the other newspapers in its brood has produced controversy and worse; some people are taking this graphic design issue much too seriously.

As some people get older, they want things to stay the same so that they don't feel like they're getting old. When things change, they become more aware of the passage of time and their ultimate deaths. They want everything to stay in a freeze frame. Some people have been dealing with this graphic design issue with an expressed sense of impending doom. Don't you paint your living room every few years? Get new slipcovers for the couch?

Then, too, I can only guess that the new designs are intended, in part, to streamline the process of producing the newspapers with more up-to-date methods, which will also be more economical.
