Florida college student still being questioned -
Shabqadar PK: Judge Nasrullah Khan has granted police two more days to question the Florida college student they took into custody at a checkpoint approaching Mohmand Agency. He was in handcuffs at his court appearance in Charsada.
There is a problem about his name. If we can't resolve this, it could become difficult to keep track of him. My best understanding at this time is that his birth name may be Jawad, but his Americanized nickname may be something like Juddi or Judi. I could be wrong about this, too.
Frankly, I am further concerned because some of the media has been referring to him as Jude, which seems to have some Hebraic connotations - and we all remember what happened to Daniel Pearl in Pakistan.
The police want to know why
he was there. I'm going to volunteer a guess:
It may be that a Florida-based youngster might naively believe he could find Osama Bin Ladin there, since someone recently expressed the belief in public that Mohmand Agency is his likely location.
In the U.S. it has been much publicized that there is a very big financial reward to be gained by finding the fugitive cult leader. But a 20-year-old youth should not be taking on such a dangerous quest on his own.
CBS News adds: After the court hearing, an AP reporter tried to talk to the youth. He seemed ready to speak, but police quickly hustled him off.
