Mez: Möbius Strip Edition -

Hayden Panettiere who portrayed Amanda Knox in the Lifetime Cable TV movie is back with us again this weekend in the debut of Wes Craven's Scream 4 in theatrical release.

And if we notice any resemblance between the genre of Scream 4 and the homicide in the Perugia cottage, that may not be just a random coincidence, because this is the culture in which young people today are immersed:

"Two girls butchered!" she shrieks,
delighted by the PR possibilities.

Popular movies provide some of the cultural vocabulary on which youngsters draw. They absorb these images by osmosis:

"There are rooms covered in blood, intestines spilled out onto beds, knives being driven into people's foreheads... and much, much more."

What happens when you
add drugs and alcohol to the mix?

The effects may blur the boundaries between the movie fantasies and Real Life. Perhaps the bloody episode in the cottage can be compartmentalized as if it were just another movie from this genre.
