ABC's One Life to Live came to an end today . . .

It was an old fashioned Soap Opera from the era preceding Fan Fiction, the Internet, audience engagement measured in clicks, and viral memes.

But Soap Opera continues, morphing in ways more consistent with our contemporary culture, and the ABC TV Network has been no slouch at venturing into these new realms.

These days, ABC has been pioneering a combination of Reality TV, Soap Opera 2.0, and Mockumentary in their depictions of the cases of Amanda Knox, Casey Anthony,
and others.
