Is The Qana Phenomenon a kind of Middle Eastern Telenovela? Should we regard it as more of a folkloric tribute to the traditional Ramadan TV series rather than a literal, linear war chronicle? Giant birds and magical burning Korans surely have some place
in culture.
I wouldn't blame the Arab photo stringers too much for all this. Their main qualification was that by virtue of their "Arabtude" they could blend into the local situation without kicking up too much fuss. It's the photo editors who are going to have to work
harder, methinks.

It's a keeper! Outstanding essay. One for the annual "Best of" collections and maybe even some textbooks. Some of it is superlatively written and even amusing.
Having said all that, I don't think the crisis is as grave as he does.
I do think that there is a credibility crisis as far as some current commercial practices are concerned. These practices should be reviewed and reevaluated.
