VOICE WITHOUT A HANDLE:
A process of metamorphosis -
Michael Calderone at the NY Observer writes about the revolving door for editors of the New Times' Village Voice:
More than a year later, the new Village Voice Media still hasn’t gotten a handle on running the actual Village Voice...
"The thing that mystifies me about New Times, and Lacey told me himself, is that he and his partner had coveted The Voice for years," Mr. Barrett said. "They liked the name, but I don’t know what they liked about the paper before they bought it."
Rachel Sklar seems to indicate that there is some disagreement about the reasons for and circumstances of the editor switch.

I think we should be regarding the Village Voice strictly in the past tense. The current publication is the New Times' version of the VV.
Over the course of my lifetime there have been a number of changes in publications. For example:
When I was a youngster, the NY Post newspaper was owned by a woman named Dorothy Schiff under whom it had a leftward orientation. Under its newer owner, Rupert Murdoch, it has changed its orientation even though it has retained its banner name. It still exists, but it is not the same kind of publication it used to be.
