Some FBI crime statistics have been published by the local press which has been trying to massage them like gangbangers in order to soft-pedal and mislead readers.

The six largest cities here with a population of over 100,000 "reported 48 murders in 2006, compared with 35 in 2005."

Since the beginning of 2007, 3 people have already been viciously murdered on my block alone.

"The number of murders in Broward County's six largest cities jumped 37 percent last year, but overall crime figures remained flat or slightly down, according to FBI statistics released Monday."
