The Cedars Pointe condominium in Miami was deemed uninhabitable yesterday due to mountains of garbage which have been accumulating for the last three or four months, nonworking fire alarms, broken elevator, looted premises being used by squatters, and other property code violations.

Under Miami city code: "if a company has a Dumpster at a property, the company must continue to pick up the garbage even if the bills are not paid."

This story is about: whether the authorities where you live are willing to enforce the property code laws or not.

The story is remarkable because: ultimately, the authorities in Miami stepped up to the plate and did what they were supposed to do. Unfortunately, this outcome does not happen in Broward County, where the News Media maintains an absolute blackout of any such stories.
