Meredith Kercher Murder Case -
Dubious Distinctions & Real v Fake . . .
Amanda Knox made it onto an Italian newspaper's list of people who have left their marks on 2008. They start out by describing her (once again) as having an angelic face - and I just don't get that. I don't share that perception. When I look at a photo of her, I don't see anything angelic.
Meanwhile, Frank at Perugia Shock blog recently participated in the latest comment thread there. Frank said:
"You are a murder suspect but someone published your private diary which has nothing to do with the case, which until that point was not in the trial and was previous to the facts."
Let me preface this by noting that I am not familiar with Italian laws covering privacy or the status of that diary, so I am not equipped to comment on that. But Amanda Knox does have an Italian lawyer, and it seems like it would be his responsibility to deal with those issues.
If you are trying to understand a situation better and someone presents you with a choice between an authentic piece of information and a fake piece of information, which would you choose?
The Knox Defence presented the public with a phony family portrait which does not add to our understanding of this situation because it does not accurately represent the home environment Amanda Knox came from.
In contrast, Fiorenza Sarzanini has presented the public with something supposedly authentic, so it would not be surprising if the public displayed some interest in it.
