Bookish: NEW STOCKING-STUFFER (2#) -

Just in time for Christmas . . .

It may not save the book business, but it may
help end the year on a decidedly more upbeat note:

The Tales of Beedle the Bard by JK Rowling is a book of five fables with commentary supplied by Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster at Harry Potter's school.

It is making its debut around the world simultaneously and looks like a year's end winner for the book business which has been in a downbeat mood recently.

SoFlo: BLENDED NEWS (2#) -

Food Fight! More
Spittoons and Teen Vampire Stories . . .

A new compound newspaper product will debut in South Florida this coming January, produced by college journalism students under the banner of The South Florida News Service. It will incorporate The Palm Beach Post, the Sun Sentinel and The Miami Herald.

"This is going to be
much more than an internship,"
one of the administrators explained.

And, over the weekend, the Editor of the Sun Sentinel revealed why his newspaper did not cover the Webcam Teen Suicide story in nearby Pembroke Pines.

I think he lost the plot on this one:

the original attempt to telephone EMS
in Broward County FL came from India.

Incidentally, I got the story from The Times of London, which is a reputable and responsible publication, before I became aware that Matt Drudge had posted it.
