Mez: Tuff Stuff (2#) -

Meredith Kercher Murder Case -

Charle Mudede has done something very courageous which has far exceeded my expectations of him: he has written a speculative "true crime" account of Meredith Kercher's murder.

Mudede is a trans-national who currently lives in the Seattle area where he teaches at a local college and contributes to the independent alt-weekly newspaper, which gives him a longer perspective on the situation.

This is a piece which can be difficult and distressing to get through at some points. I had to take a break in the middle to regain my composure. To punch up the effect he has written it in the style of a movie treatment - ie, it's in the present tense.

Evidently, it is too painful for some of the young locals to deal with, as they closely identified with the college girl who left Seattle to attend school in Perugia and they resent the magic spell of that illusion being broken.

The Stranger has published a companion piece by Amanda Knox's friend Madison Paxton for balance and as a kind of rebuttal.

Caveat! Mudede's piece is not suitable for
the faint of heart or a very sensitive reader.
