Mez: Stirring the Pot (4#) -

The company which manages the Amanda Knox Campaign seems to be trying to turn her situation into a kind of Reality TV series; they keep stirring the pot. In the latest move, they have brought in Philadelphia-based criminal defense lawyer Theodore "Ted" Simon as the newest member of their legal team.

But managing a campaign on behalf of Knox does not guarantee they will be able to maintain total control over it in the face of all existential contingencies, such as the kid who called in the toilet bomb threat.

Seattle Prep of late has become more actively engaged in a long distance ministry outreach to former student Knox, but to what degree its Jesuit sponsors are directly involved remains murky.

Be that as it may, this little-understood ministry has come under heated criticism. The school's president, Kent Hickey has defended their engagement, explaining that: "cura personalis or 'care for the person' is the heart of Jesuit education."

Nicole Brodeur, a columnist for the Seattle Times, has further fueled this latest controversy in a locally-oriented column this week.

Emma Brockes has done a very charming interview with American playwright John Guare, author of Six Degrees of Separation, a play that became a movie. In it, he confesses that he, too, has become intrigued by Amanda Knox and the crime for which she was convicted, the murder of her housemate, Meredith Kercher.
