Mez: Emotional Appeal (3#) -

Meredith Kercher Case -

Dot-Busters Excellent Perugia Adventure . . .

Nick Pisa reports that Amanda Knox's parents appeared as guests on an Italian TV show with a letter supposedly from their daughter which seems crafted by her legal team to have an emotional impact on their viewing audience.

I don't remember the Court saying anything about an orgy or sex game. It is my understanding, thus far, that the Court referred to this episode as a "drug-fuelled escapade."

I thought the Court found "no intent" which is the equivalent of only Manslaughter in our system: a wrongful death, but not quite murder. Obviously, the defendants were grossly undercharged.

It seems to me that the Court didn't look very hard, because the fact is, Meredith was a racial minority there, making it a racist murder. If this trial were conducted in the United States, we would add the appropriate Civil Rights charges. As it stands today, the defendants in this case are getting a free pass on a very vicious racist murder.

Why vicious? The Medical Examiner found evidence of Torture. When was the last time you heard of a case in which an individual female victim was tortured and then freed to identify who tortured her?

The "flimsy forensic evidence" to which Pisa refers is only a small part of the evidence in this case. Knox and Sollecito have been caught up in a very large and complex Net or Web of evidence. Discrediting one or two pieces of that evidence would not nullify the rest of the body of evidence against them.
