The Hay Literary Festival . . .
has got to be among the best excuses to hop across The Pond. Someone at the festivities managed to ambush Editor Tina Brown and asked her about the original Beast which was supposed to be a spoof. Brown explains:
"That newspaper just seemed to me to represent British popular journalism at its most antic," she says. "That's what I love about it. It has energy and a slightly irresponsible feel. I don't see it as negative. There is something very joyful about it."
Ah! Well, never let a story
get in the way of a good headline ;-)
